This section provides images and background on one of the more prominat and familiar grousp of sea bottom organisms. The phylum Echinodermata is named for their spiny skin. All echinderms have tube feet, a unique water vacluar system, and (penta-) radial or biradial symetry, as well as the presence of calcareous parts in their bodies.

There are approximately 130 of described species of echinoderms in the arctic, with species living from the intertidal to the deepest parts of the central basins.
