Yoldia hyperborea (Gould A.A., 1841)
A very common benthic bivalve mollusk of arctic seas.
Size
- Length to 60 mm. Adults usually 28-33 mm.
Color
- Periostracum olive-yellowish or brown to dark brown, shiny.
Habitat & Distribution
- Infaunal.
- On silty sediment mainly.
- Sublitoral mainly.
- Widespread boreal-arctic.
Feeding
- Deposit feeder.
Life cycle
- Dioecious.
- Development probably with pelagic larvae.
