A new Arctic deep-sea sea cucumber species
Size
- 3-32 mm
- to 62 mm in Baffin Bay
Color and shape
- Pale white
- Ovoid body, length 2.-2.5 times the width
- Up to 7 pairs of dorsal papillae, 2-5 of those in anterior half, 1-3 in posterior half, sometimes additional unpaired papillae, sometimes fused papillae in anterior body half
- 4-5 pairs of tube feet
- Spicules up to 1550 um in length and 65 um in diameter with vertical apophysis
Habitat
- Central Arctic Ocean, Greenland and Norwegian Seas, Baffin Bay; 610-2200 m
- Note: some authors considered Baffin Bay specimens a different species
