A very common crustacean in arctic shallows

- Yellowish-gey to brown
- Kdney shaped dark eyes
- Llong feathered setae on telson
Habitat
- Panarctic, reaching into subarctic
- Seafloor in nearshore intertidal waters
- Moderately exposed through sheltered zones
- Found beneath loose stones
Feeding
- Adults opportunistic: herbivorous, scavangers, carnivorous, detritovous
Life cycle
- 30 to 60 eggs incubated between October and May
- in Arctic breeds once in life and once per year
- offspring released during spring
- Estimated life span 2-4 years
